The Sparkling Violetear, in contrast, occupies the role of defender: it sings, patrols, expels, and controls.

This diversity shows that Pachacútec should not be managed with only one species in mind. If planting is done only for the Sparkling Violetear, the forest may favor a dominant hummingbird too much. If restoration is carried out with diversity of plants, heights, flowers, and microhabitats, the entire community benefits.
